While searching for what was hot and what was not in mobile phones, I came across this article in MobHappy by Carlo that was spookily close to my own thoughts! He posted a list of the worst in mobile of 2005. I have to admit that I can’t agree more with him really. Let’s have a look on what he has to say.
(Please allow me to arrange them in my own choice of order Carlo. It would have been interesting if you had done so yourself)
6. Vodafone’s ‘Cheesy’ cover for Toshiba handsets: The looks don’t bring a smile; rather looks uncomfortably greasy
5. Crazy Frog: The most preposterous look a mobile phone can have perhaps
4. Gizmondo: Not only it brings memories of the pathetic N-Gage by the looks, it is just not a phone worth buying. Besides the scandals involving the company’s executives was just too much for me at least.
3. Vodafone 702sMO and 702MO: Carlo rightly said these two 3G phones when released in Japan were - two phones too late! He says; ‘When 2-megapixel cameras were common, if not the norm, Vodafone and Motorola start selling this wonder, with its stunning VGA camera, delivering 310,000 pixels of poorly lit, blurry wonder.’ And he is spot on!
2. Verizone Wireless’ EV-DO offer: Unlimited [sic] broadband access for 59.99 USD a month, that too for browsing and emailing? Man, are the public fools? Outrageously expensive for too little. Absolutely worthless buy.
1. Motorola ROKR: I am still to understand what this phone was actually trying to do. There was so much hype before the launch especially about its iTunes feature and other functionality. Actually apart from iTunes, there was nothing much to write home about the phone. There were better phones already available (even without iTunes) when it came to downloading & storing audios and synchronizing them. As with the Vodafone 702sMO and 702MO, I thought they were a bit late in the market as well. What was Motorola trying to prove? In any case, I have found the phone to be rather a little complicated; honest.
Thanks MobHappy
