Kenya finds new application of mobile phones

Conventionally, mobile phones are used for sending messages and making or receiving calls. However, a Kenyan company has found out a new application of mobile phones, which would enable customers to make money transaction the way they are sending SMSs to their friends, families and relatives. Developed by Safaricom, the service is dubbed as M-Pesa or Mobile money and seems to revolutionize the banking sector of Kenya. The application of M-Pisa is very simple. It does no require a new handset or SIM card. The users can send money between 74p to £259 via text messages. Using M-Pisa service, the companies can also pay salaries to their employees through mobile phones.
