Agilent Technologies Inc. has enhanced its 8960 Wireless Communications Test Set. The company has unveiled new 7.2 Mbps data connection and Inter-RAT voice and data handoff to enhance its Wireless Communications Test Set running UMTS Lab Applications. The enhancement is based on the 8960 Lab Application’s value to provide a broad and cost -effective solution to meet various verities of User Equipment (UE) design needs, including from the functional test to RF measurements for device validation, integration and regression testing. It incorporates a .2 Mbps HSDPA IP data connection with real-time 3GPP network emulation and also includes Inter-RAT voice and data handovers. The 8960 allow engineers to use it as a tool to ensure UE design integrity throughout the cycle of test and deployment. Since it supports the 7.2 Mbps RF and IP data, so engineers can stress the UE at rates above in real networks. Additionally, engineers can also test the impact of high data rates on UE hardware components, which makes impact on battery life and current, drain and evaluate software issues. It has an advanced feature of the E6701E/T and E6703D/T Lab Applications, like two-cell emulation to ensure realistic testing of UMTS Inter-RAT handovers and cell selections to allow the mobile to select from and handover between two independent cells. The Inter-RAT voice and data handoff enhancements allow engineers to functionally test UE voice quality and data intensive, while roaming between GSM and -CDMA/HSDPA networks.
