Airtel has started the cell sites from a level of 1,000 cell and now it is reached at 2,400 cell sites.



Airtel has increased its coverage area from 260 to 550 in the urban towns. In the rural area, company has made the coverage from 4,000 to 10,000 villages.



The switch handling capacity has been improved from 0.8 million to 2 million customers. The SMS capacity is just 5 times from previously, it means 700 to 3,500 messages per second.



Tamil Nadu is the key market for Airtel.



This year the cell site will go up from 2400 to 4500. The switch handling capacity will also increase from 2 million to over 3 million customers.



This year Airtel is increasing its SMS capacity to 4,800 messages per second.
