Australian based small company, Alive is working on Bluetooth technology, which transmits medical observation data to a central network through a mobile phone. The company is planning to launch range of products to make advancements in health monitoring through mobile phone.
Alive’s bluetooth technology is quite simple technology, the bluetooth enabled health monitoring device like heart rate, ECGs, blood oximeters and blood glucose meters, will communicate with software on your mobile phone and upload information to a central Internet server. If you want constant monitoring, then information can be uploaded in real-time through GPRS mobile data connection. The company has developed following health monitoring devices:
Cardio Mobile program: The Cardio Mobile program is known as the Cardio Mobile project, which is based on cardio rehabilitation. Users would be able to monitor their ECG output remotely through the Internet as they exercise. Even it allows people get on their lives and enable doctor to monitor them for their problems.
Sleep apnea diagnosis: The Alive Pulse Oximeter just clips at patient’s finger and transmits remotely to their mobile phone. There is no need for patients to spend the night at a sleep lab. Even users can use the device to screen for sleep apnea in their home.
Diabetes management: Alive’s Diabetes Management System is designed to reduce reporting error and increase diabetic glucose level management. The device simply stores a log of the data that can be transmitted at intervals to an endocrinologist who can intervene with various treatments or suggestions when changes are detected.
Exercise and training logging: The Alive Sports System connects user’s heart rate to a bluetooth GPS phone and logs your speed, location and heart rate through the duration of your daily run. Even users can watch their whole exercise session. It also shows heart rates at every step of the way through the mini accelerometers.
