
Now US customers will know the origin of unknown calls through their Alltel mobile phones. US largest network provider, Alltel Wireless, has launched City ID on its selected Alltel phones. The City ID identifies the location of incoming phone numbers and also displays the city and state assigned to any landline or wireless phone number in North America.
The leading provider of Caller ID technology for wireless phones, Cequint, has developed the City ID, which identifies more than 15000 cities, towns with the tool to identify both local and long distance callers. Initially, Alltel has launched this service on the LG AX275. The company is offering this service as a seven day trial. Later on company will offer this service for 15 day free trail and on Alltel phones. City Id automatically matches with the any incoming phone number with US city based and state, where number is registered.
Wade McGill, senior vice president of wireless products for Alltel Wireless, said,
City ID will provide our customers with additional control over the calls that they choose to answer. Customers frequently do not recognize an incoming phone number, and this application will provide the additional information to help users decide if they want to answer the call.
Alltel will provide this service for a monthly charge of $1.99. the application is pre-installed on the phone in Alltel’s Axcess Shop, so there is no need to download the application.
