A leading provider of wireless and security solutions to business enterprise, Ascom is planning to release its IP-DECT communication platform in North America. The IP-DECT system not only combines the Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) standard but it also operates in the Unlicensed-PCS spectrum with emerging VoIP technologies. It capitalizes both packet data as well high-quality wireless voice on a single network. The solution consists of three DECT 6.0 portable handsets and IP-DECT base stations, which is capable of transmitting and receiving voice packets through wirelessly. These voice packets can be directly registered to an IP-PBX or to a TDM-PBX using the Ascom VoIP Gateway. The mobile phone user uses the DECT standard to handle VoIP calls through wirelessly in their office location or in any other location. The company is also planning to supply its Transport Management System (TMS) to the Russian company Mitrapoint. According to Chad West, president of Ascom (US) Inc., the IP-DECT offers interference-free wireless VoIP solution to customers, which is easy to install and maintain.
