Westell Technologies (WSTL), a tier 1 broadband access provider has recently come up with a new browser for it’s cordless phone platform. The browser is known as Opera.

The Benefits of Opera

The Opera browser will further enhance the Media Terminal that was developed back in 2006 by WSTL. This platform is used mainly for data, video and voice.

The Media Terminal was targeted for the broadband subscribers without any Personal computer. These people would be able to go online with the help of this terminal & Opera browser.

With the Opera browser in place, the terminal can be reformatted as quick as a webpage. Opera also lets the users of the Media Terminal surf the net using touch screen technology. The major benefit of opera is the system of widgets.

The Opera widget implementation allows the users to customize content including weather forecasts, news headlines and stock market information.

Perspectives on Opera and WSTL Collaboration

The product line director Carl Steen of Westell agrees with this fact:

Opera not only gives the MediaTerminal an intuitive user interface and Widget functionality, but also an optimized Web browsing experience that easily adapts to touch-screen navigation. It’s a powerful solution for our customers

Likewise, Opera software company is also looking forward to working with WSTL more. Opera Software exec and VP for devices concur:

We are excited to work with Westell because of their visionary approach to incorporating personalized Widgets on devices

Future of this technology & collaboration

With the collaboration between Opera and WSTL, the future of this technology is great. The Media Terminal developed by WSTL already does wonders for the users of broadband cordless phone service. I think the addition of Opera browser is like the icing on the cake. This will help expand WSTL business drastically.
