Colombia based provider of logistics and security services for major importers and exporters, Emprevi Ltda has partnered with Savi Networks to launch the first Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) based information network, which will operate in South America to track the location and location status of cargo shipments from country factories to sea ports.

The network captures transmitted data over radio wave from RFID based e-Seals affixed to containers and then routes the information to the transportation security software. The software also provides automated alerts on security breaches, so that users can receive through their e-mails, cell phones or PDAs. The software is based on an open technology platform, which is compatible with following standards:
1) ISO standard 18000-7 for RFID devices
2) ISO standard 18185 for electronic container security devices
3) It operates at the 433.92 MHz radio frequency.

The network expands the customer’s manufacturing facilities, intermediate transportation check points and ports. Savi’s web hosted, transportation security software reduces administrative costs and improves inventory management. The software decreases safety stock and reduces the potential for drug trafficking and smuggling.
