Ford Motor Corp. has developed its in-car communication and entertainment system in cooperation with Microsoft Corp. The cost of the system will come near $395. The company is planning to launch nine other models by the end of the year. Ford has launched the system on the Ford Focus, Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX.

The in-car communication system is featured with Bluetooth, names and contact numbers of the user’s mobile phone address book are automatically transferred to the vehicle through wirelessly. While for the non-Bluetooth devices there is an USB 2.0 connection to transfer the contact numbers.

Ford’s new system is able to host many different digital media players, including the iPod, Zune and other PlaysForSure players. It plays music in MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV and PCM formats. Now customers would be able to download updates of Sync software either from the web or a Ford or Lincoln Mercury dealer.

The new Sync allows users to utilize their mobile phones and MP3 players through their car’s in-dash audio system. The Sync allows drivers to control call functions and answer text messages. The system allows drivers to use either their voice steering wheel controls to listen music in MP3 players.
