France is planning to use the Chinese latest mobile technology, particularly the TD-SCDMA standard which uses a different frequency spectrum for mobile phone calls and data transfers. Li Juan, the PR manager of France Telecom R&D Beijing said that the France Telecom is assessing China’s locally developed third generation standards like W-CDMA and cdma2000.



Li also commented, ‘There is a possibility we will consider using TD-SCDMA in Europe when the frequency spectrum for W-CDMA in Europe runs out of capacity’. China has been testing TD-SCDMA networks in many cities nationwide. However it is yet to come up with a commercial network based on the standard, which it can export.
