
The leading provider of standard based rich media solutions for mobile devices, Ikivo AB has partnered with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), a leading provider of innovative processing solutions in computing, graphics and consumer electronics to introduce accelerated vector graphics for rich media applications. The company has launched a version of its accelerated vector graphics, which will run on AMD’s Imageon media processor
The Ikivo application running on AMD’s hardware offers Ikivo’s portfolio of Enrich Tools and Clients. The application is based on Mobile Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) and the AMD Imageon media processor solution for OpenVG 1.0. OpenVG accelerates hardware, which improves the performance of the application. It is expected that OpenVG will stimulate wide use of rich media in mobile services and improve the user experience in application like Mobile TV, 2D games, media players and On-Device portals.
According to Paul Dal Santo, vice president and general manager of AMD’s Handheld Division, Ikivo’s open standard solutions will accelerate the market for media rich mobile services. Both companies will enable content and application developers to create and deploy visually compelling mobile media services for an improved consumer experience.
