Now, Indians will start manufacturing Sony Ericsson mobile phones. Sony Ericsson, the second largest mobile phone company announced that the company is planning to manufacture mobile phones in India.

The company will start manufacturing mobile phones in Chennai, India. Sony has signed an agreement with Flextronics and Foxconn, the company’s global manufacturing partners. Initially, the company would be able to manufacture basic color mobile handsets and mid-sized music-enabled mobile phones. These mobile phones will offer customised features to Indians like content and customised keypads.

Flextronics will start producing Sony Ericsson phones in the second quarter of this year, while Foxconn, will start manufacturing Sony’s phones about two or three months later. India’s largest telecommunications service provider, state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam has insisted local operators to manufacture equipments of Sony mobile phones.

According to Thiru Dayanidhi Maran, Union Minister of Communications & Information Technology of India, India is becoming a manufacturing hub of international standards.
