The software giant, Microsoft has unveiled a system, which will allow users to share their mobile content between mobile phones, PCs and other mobile devices.

Microsoft has launched a new digital rights management system (DRM) named PlayReady at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Microsoft’s DRM will allow the use of commercial content on multiple different devices for a single fee.

A new DRM system, PlayRedy is based on a system of virtual environments named domains. Users can register multiple devices within their domain. If a mobile phone operator, Internet service provider or broadcaster has registered with PlayReady, then their users can purchase content through the system and transfer it to other domain-registered devices. Users can transfer the content, including music, video, games ringtones and images. Even users can also transfer audio/video formats including, WMA, AAC/AAC+/HE-AAC, WMV and H.264.

According to Chadd Knowlton, general manager for content access and protection at Microsoft, PlayReady is not integrated with Windows Mobile 6. it is a platform-agnostic and users can use it wherever they want.
