There had been a few things that happened in the mobile industry in this year. Let’s look some of the major things that has happened in my opinion

1) It was year of mp3 and video on mobiles.

2) MMS scams that started late 2004 continued to rock the consciousness of the public this year by secretly video recording of intimate and lewd scenes involving people breaching their privacies and even unearthing other scams in sting ops. But that didn’t make countries like India ban camera phones.

3) Windows smartphones bombed because of high prices and the lack of carrier choice offers. It didn’t make any substantial dent in the smart phone market.

4) Exchange got mobility features but it took ages for MS to deliver. However, real attachment handling solutions are yet to be found.

5) After the Communicator last year Symbian seemed to have disappeared from the scene.

6) There had been a dip in mobile data pricing, but then it is not what many believed to be.

7) Proliferation of mobile phones in developing countries had been tremendous. The year 2005 saw India emerging as potentially the 2nd largest mobile phone using country in the world after China.
