Motorola, Inc. and the Eclipse Foundation announced that that Motorola has joined Eclipse as a Strategic Developer Member. According to this commitment, the Motorola will hold the seat of Board of Directors and participate in the Architecture, Requirements, and Planning Councils of the Eclipse Foundation



Motorola is working with the Eclipse Foundation to propose an Eclipse Tools for mobile Linux. It is the part of the Device Software Development Platform Top Level project to provide the extensible frameworks and for the development of C++ applications targeting mobile devices.



Motorola is contributing Eclipse community in following features:



1. Software

2. Engineering resources

3. Its mobile expertise

4. Development environment for mobile Linux platforms



This membership will give the new achievements in the adoption of Linux platforms. Recently Motorola is launching a new global developer and ISV program, named MOTODEV. It is also launching a new source code, opensource.motorola.com. This site features source code, including kernel and drivers. It also features Java technology including Java test frameworks, sample test cases, and will soon host code, documents, and specifications for Motorola-lead JSRs.
