IM Flash Technologies is boosting the storage capacity of NAND flash memory chips.
The joint venture of Intel-Micron Technology announced that they are going to begun manufacturing of 4-gigabit NAND flash memory chips using a new 50 nanometer process.
There are two types of flash memory chips, which are following:
• NOR flash memory
• NAND memory chip
NAND memory is most often used to store large amounts of data. These chips have high storage capacity, which allows user to store more songs or pictures on your cell phone.
The capacity of IM Flash Technologies is moving from 72 to 50 nanometer. The 50 nanometer is offering other advanced things like 8 gigabits. They are reducing the size of each flash memory chip to give more storage capacity in mobile phones.
