
Nokia has acquired software development company, German gate5 AG. The mobile giant has purchased this company to integrate GPS technology in its next generation mobile phones.
According to company reports, the company will still give support to gate5’s customers as well as Symbian, Linux, Windows Mobile, Palm and Java platforms.
Recently Nokia and Siemens have merged to create Nokia-Siemens Networks of worth $30 billion.
Recently Nokia has announced that its N80, an Internet Edition will support for Wi-Fi networks and IP phone calls. The quad-band GSM and WCDMA device includes a three-megapixel camera phone. This new device will allow users to download VoIP applications for the use of integrated Internet calling framework. The phone will also support for Wi-Fi hotspots.
The company is hoping to make growth in the Personal Navigation Device market. Nokia is expecting the growth of 15 million units in this year.
