Oki Electric is providing Face Sensing Engine to Pantech, mobile company in South Korea. Oki’s face sensing engine is used in Pantech’s mobile phones.
The Face Sensing Engine is going to be implemented into Pantech’s SKY brand mobile phone, ‘SKY IM-R100′. SKY IM-R100 is the first Pantech mobile phone, which is equipped with Oki’s FSE.
The FSE automatically controls the direction of camera, facial expression function and always adjusts the face to the middle of screen. FSE synthesis images in real-time synchronization to facial movements and save the result as a photo using image synthesis function.
According to Oki Electric, FSE is providing fastest processing for facial detection and tracking functions. It detects the facial features in 115msec, ARM9 200MHz-level-processing performance and tracks facial feature in 35msec.
FSE also provides facial recognition by extracting the amount of personal characteristics of the face image and then it compares and verifies them with previous data.
