Palm Inc, a leader in mobile computing, in association with Airtel, India’s largest cellular service operator yesterday launched their Palm Treo 750 smartphone in India. Available exclusively on the Airtel network the 750 is the first Treo smartphone to be introduced in the country and also the first Windows Mobile(R) based Treo smartphone to be launched in India.
The Treo 750 combines Palm’s a high-technology feature-rich cellular handheld and ergonomically pleasing design.
The Treo 750 features include email over all platforms (Hotmail, Yahoo!, Gmail etc), instant messenger (Yahoo! Messenger, MSN Messenger), surfing the internet and self-application software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Compatible with 3G technology for fast data transfer, the Treo 750 is equipped with Microsoft’s Direct Push Technology for Windows Mobile.
The Palm Treo 750 is actually a multi-feature device and offers a world GSM phone, email, broadband wireless, and Windows Mobile all put together. This is something that no other company has offered yet.
Priced a little over Rs. 25,000 the Treo 750 seems to have hit the right chord with upwardly mobile, gadget maniacs who are always changing their handhelds for better ones.
We will have to wait and watch how this one is received by the Indian market.
