Samsung Electronics, the Korean electronics giant is aiming to increase the sales of its handsets in mobile market. The company is also planning for shaping the future of the global telecommunications industry.
Ng Long Shyang, Director of sales and marketing for telecommunications and IT products in Samsung said in Singapore’s annual CommunicAsia exhibition,
Southeast Asia to lead the way in the company’s market expansion plans.
According to him, the company has shipped 102.9 million handsets worldwide last year. This year they will ship 115 million. He is expecting that around 9 million will come from Southeast Asian market.
The company is launching following the ‘Ultra Edition’ series handsets:
The Ultra Edition 6.9″ SGH-X820: It is the thinnest cell of only 6.9-millimeter. The X820 includes a 2-megapixel camera.
The Ultra Edition 9.9 (SGH-D380): It is 9.9-mm thin clamshell handset with a 2-megapixel camera.
The Ultra Edition 12.9 (SGH-D900): A 12.9-mm slider-phone features a 3-megapixel camera.
The company is showing the stylish SGH-E900 and the SGH-900. In which it can receive and display high-definition TV broadcasts.
The products are based on the WiMAX technology, which will provides a wireless Internet-based mobile networking scheme over a wide coverage area. Samsung is contracting with to Sprint Nextel to supply Mobile WiMAX equipment in United States, Telecom Italia in Italy, TVA in Brazil, Omnivision in Venezuela, Japans KDDI, and H1 in Croatia.
