south-korea_48South Korea is celebrated around the globe for its chic cellular phones and for early adoption of the latest technology. The mobile users, on-the-go over there, will have the access to the swift speeds they avail at home in the near future, thanks to the High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) technology. HSDPA has the capability to deliver speed that is three times faster than the run of the mill 3G. But, you know Koreans well. Other than the HSDPA technology, they are considering other technologies too for high-speed mobile broadband.

The Korea Telecom sees Seoul, the capital of South Korea, as a city having super-powerful wireless hotspots that offer seamless internet at broadband high-speed to users at every nook and coner of the city. The Korea Telecom plans to come up with Wibro (aka the wireless broadband) by the summer to enable the swift speeds of more than a few megabits a second. While Koreans have given the cellphone industry chic and feature-packed mobiles including the much hyped 10-megapixel phone from Samsung, it won’t be so easy for them to make use of Wibro effectively as the connection keeps tumbling when the users move from one Wibro base station to other.

Everyone who has heard of mobile TV phones must have heard of the driving force behind it-the Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) too. Since its launch, more than a million Koreans watch TV content on their handsets. While Samsung has demoed its 4G mobile technology, I won’t be shocked if the Koreans are already keeping an eye on that. The data transfer at a rate of 100Mbps in mobile state and 1Gbps in still conditions is more than enough for any sort of video-on-demand or web browsing.

South Korea is a hub of the broadband buffs and it is doing its darn good to deliver the mobile users the swift speeds.
