The Linux PC has just become user-friendly and compatible with Windows, Mac and smartphones. New York-based TransMedia Corp has launched the browser-based media sharing and storage service, named Glide, which allows user to upload files to a hosted storage service and synchronize with PCs, running on the most common operating systems.
Now users can access Linux Thunderbird Contacts, Sunbird Calendars and all desktop files on a variety of mobile devices, including Apple iPhone, T-Mobile Wing, BlackBerry Curve 8300, Nokia mobile devices, BlackBerry, Cingular, HP iPAQ, HP hw6510, Motorola mobile devices, Palm Treo, Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson, T-Mobile SDA and T-Mobile SideKick.
According to TransMedia Chairman and CEO, Donald Leka, now Linux users can download Glide Sync, while business users can purchase new PCs to consider Linux OS as an alternative. The synchronization and compatibility of Glide allows Linux OS to work seamlessly with Windows, Mac OS X and even most smartphones.
Now Glide users can use web browser on PCs or mobile devices to access online stored files. Currently, Glide Sync supports Linux 2.6 /x86 architecture (32-bit Intel or AMD chips). The company is planning to add Linux Linux x64 architectures (Intel x86-64/IA-64, and AMD64) by the end of next month.
