According to a report by Standard and Poor’s, the number of wireless subscribers are continuing to rise steadily in the US market. In the report on its study of the US cell-phone market, it says that mobile subscription is seeing what it termed as - ‘healthy low double-double digit subscriber, usage and revenue growth’ as mobiles are now a necessity in everyday life and business.



Credit analyst Eric Geil said;

Rising data services revenue is helping mitigate declining unit pricing for voice services, and recent industry consolidation provides newly combined companies opportunities for operating efficiencies, while carriers continue to benefit from barriers to entry that include substantial investment requirements and spectrum scarcity.
However he warned that that competition in the industry is still very aggressive and could further intensify as penetration growth slows, while initiatives on improving service quality and data capabilities are keeping capital expenditures high.
