Alcatel-Lucent announced that Vodafone Netherlands has deployed a network-based Alcatel-Lucent enterprise solution, which will enable Vodafone Netherlands to expand the features of its Wireless Office service. The company has offered network integration services, including design and engineering support, while the enterprise solution is being offered to Vodafone. Vodafone’s new Wireless Office service is basically a network-based IP Centrex solution, which will allow business customers to use mobile phones to access communications features through fixed telephones lines in a company’s offices. Additionally, the solution will also include receptionist switchboard and handle calls to a company’s prime number, geographical numbers (fixed numbers), company numbers (088) and Call Management Software for easy call management by end users. Vodafone has introduced its Wireless Office service, which will not only provide the functionality of fixed communications but also the flexibility of mobile communications.


 
 
 

Sony’s MBW100 watch tells who is calling you!

Now your wristwatch will tell you that you have an incoming call. Sony Ericsson has unveiled Bluetooth watch MBW100, which will alert you, when you have an incoming call on your mobile phone. The Sony’s Bluetooth watch MBW 100 will not only tell you that you have an incoming call but also it will display the name, who is calling you. As your watch is within about 30 feet of the cell phone, it will vibrate gently, whenever you an incoming call and it will also display the name on its crisp display below the main analog watch screen. If the number is from your contact list of your mobile phone, then watch will display the name of calling person. If you are not interested, press a button once to mute the phone’s ring signal or press it twice to send the call to voice mail. If you want to take the call, then you have to take out your mobile phone, unless you are using the headset. The features of wristwatch is not yet completed, it has many more features like if you press another three buttons, it will start or pause the phone’s digital music player of your mobile phone. This stylish look wristwatch is quite heavy; it weighs 187 grams with stainless steelbody and waterproof to 100 feet. You can charge your wristwatch by using an adapter connected to the phone charger. Due to heavy battery and vibration mechanism, there is no ladies model. India, the leading Internet communications and media company to offer Yahoo! Instant Messenger for Reliance mobile users across India. This joint venture will offer the rich, live Instant Messenger service on Reliance Mobile phones. Reliance communications is the first telecom service provider in the world to offer Mobile IM across Java, BREW and WAP phones on a mobile operator network. Mobile Instant Messenger will allow Reliance customers not only to chat live with other Reliance customers but also they can chat with Yahoo! Instant Messenger user across the world. User would be able to send instant messages and chat online with their family and family by using Yahoo! Messenger. Reliance user would be able to use all features of Yahoo! IM like multi-chat windows, presence status icon, emoticons, Yahoo! personal contact list and profile, multiple chat windows and viewing off-line messages etc. ACL Wireless has developed the Yahoo! Instant Messenger service client interface for Reliance. Reliance has offered this service for all BREW, WAP and Nokia color handsets by using Java technology. Synaptics Incorporated announced that Pantech is using Synaptics’ MobileTouch(TM) technology in the IM-U160 mobile phone. Intel introduces Wireless N connection for multi-tasking

Intel has introduced the new Wireless N technology, based on the 802.11n Wi-Fi draft specification, which will user to connect easily wireless network. Agere Systems launches BluOnyx MCS for mobile phones

Cheap phones impacting chip makers

With the boost in Mobile phone sales worldwide, many suppliers of component chips do not seem to be pleased enough with it as their sales and profits began to be hurt as a result of strong demand for affordable cellphones in the emerging markets of Mobile phone. As low-cost phones are built-in with fewer chips than costly smartphones, they have started tempting plenty of consumers in money-spinning western markets. And could be, by the second half of this year a new, feature-packed phones, come to market, bringing about lots of problems for the chip manufacturers. US-based Texas Instruments and Franco-Italian STMicroelectronics, both leading purveyors of chips for cellphones, reporting their earnings this week, revealed that sales came down to 8% and 1.2% correspondingly in the conventionally robust Q4, while sales skip from the Q3 as a result of end-of-year holidays purchases. The abrupt hurting amongst chip manufacturers is noteworthy since the world’s leading cellphones producer Nokia has been experiencing the bang of the shift to low-cost phones over years, but for it in fact impacting its top chip providers. Analysts indicate that well-off consumers in developed countries are not making purchase of costly phones the way they used to, but now they are switching on to the cheap and best Mobile phones, which have lots of features and functionality at the minimum prizes.


 
 
 

China all set for trial run of 4G mobile technology

China has launched the trial run of their home grown 4G mobile technology in Shanghai. What’s important to mention is the fact that Chins doesn’t have 3G network till now as after its successful trial run Govt failed to issue licenses for it. So the developers have bye-passed the system and have build their own 4G technology which will the first of its kind in the world according to China although the Korean electronic giant Samsung also demonstrated similar technology in a moving bus in Korea. China daily Quoting You Xiaohu, expert involved in 4G development said, ‘It testifies that the technology we’ve developed is feasible and brings us one step closer to put it into commercial use." The 4G will help in not only allowing faster download speeds in mobile broadband but will also allow high-quality images and data services to improve with a multi-channel HD TV also a possibility. The trial run will cost China $19 million and its also pertinent to mention that if its becomes commercially viable then China will be first country to have mobile broadband with speeds ranging up to 100MB/S. Samsung will be ready with commercial application of 4G by 2010 but China daily said China wants to have it commercially available before 2010. So its state verses corporate lets see who wins?
