US Mobile phone giant ‘Cingular Wireless’ is roping in Nokia N75 to join its array of GSM phones- this is the hottest speculation which is doing rounds among Cingular users. And if consumer reaction is to be believed, then it will recieve a red carpet treatment. Cingular Wireless is the leading mobile phone service provider in the United States, offering a variety of services using many different wireless communication standards. It has got a wide array of GSM phones attached to it. Apple iphones, Sony Ericsson, Siemens, Blackberry, Palm Treo, Nokia, Motorola, LG- you name it, they have it. But the news that has overshadowed all this, is that Nokia N75 is hitting Cingular this month. Though the news is still not confirmed. So, what makes this news the most anticipated one? Definitely, its the power of Nokia Nseries. Nokia N75 would be Cingular’s first 3G Nokia phone. The clamshell model from Nokia has some cool features: — a smartphone that’s just 20.2mm thick. — 2-megapixel camera and a 2.4-inch 320×240 screen. — dedicated music keys on the outside. — Internet browser and e-mail to support viewing e-mail attachments in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF format. — standby time of 200 hours. These features are more than enough to make any gadget freak long for it. And if Cingular is able to hook the fish, then the Cingular users can have a valid reason for their loyalty towards the service provider. And as far as the ability of Cingular (to make this happen) is concerned, I’m sure, the giant who can purchase AT&T Wireless for $41 billion can make anything happen!

Ending the pending legal battle, Cingular Wireless, which is now acquired by AT&T, has agreed to refund $18.5 million to the thousands of discontented California customers. Cingular Wireless has imposed cancellation fee on the customers who terminated company’s mobile service after facing problems while making and receiving calls. Following the agreement between AT&T and the California Public Utilities Commission, Cingular Wireless has now decided to settle the legal battle by paying $18.5 million to nearly 115,000 customers who prematurely ended their contract with the company between January 2000 and April 2002. Meanwhile, Cingular Wireless has revamped its policy towards service termination. The company now gives one month period to the new customers to terminate Cingular service without a cancellation fee.

Traditionally, cell phones are used for making or receiving calls and sending SMSs or Voice mails. However, the telecom companies have now found out new application of mobile phones. Using mobile phones, customers can now make monetary transactions. AT&T-owned Cingular Wireless has decided to provide mobile banking services in USA. For which, it has selected four major banks of the country. These are Wachovia Corp., Regions Financial Corp., SunTrust Banks Inc. and BancorpSouth Inc. The AT&T customers who have dealing with these financial institutions can use their cell phones to check account balances, payment of bills and money transactions. Firethorn Holding LLC has developed the mobile banking service for the Cingular Wireless. Cingular has announced that the new kind of service will be available for the BancorpSouth customers immediately and rest of banks by the end of this year. The customers need not to pay for the service except data usage fees. AT&T will develop software in the second half of this year for the handsets, which have to be used for the mobile banking services.
