The world’s biggets mobile phone maker, Nokia has launched seven mobile phones for India. Nokia has launched these mobile phones to introduce low-cost mobile telephony service to India’s rural masses. The company has launched Nokia 1200, 1208, 1650, 2660, 2630, 2760 and Nokia 2505 in the market. The description of mobile phones are given below: Image Credit: TechTree Nokia 1200 and Nokia 1208: Nokia has introduced the Nokia 1200 and Nokia 1208 phones to fulfill the needs of entire family or village. Both of these phones have the first call-time tracking application and multi-phonebooks to make phone sharing simpler and more efficient. The call-tracking feature allows users and village phone entrepreneurs to pre-set a time or cost limit on individual calls and automatically ending the call after the limit has been reached. The multi-phonebook allows users to set up their personal phonebook. The Nokia 1200 and Nokia 1208 comes with 5 available phonebook. Both phones are equipped with addional features also like one-touch flashlights, localised languages, a teaching mode to learn about the phone. The Nokia 1200 comes with monochrome screen, while the Nokia 1208 has color VGA screen. The cost of Nokia 1200 would be estimated around 35 EUR and it would be available in the second quarter of 2007. While the cost of Nokia 1208 is 40 EUR and it would be available in the third quarter of 2007. The Nokia 2660 phone has dual screen featured with GPRS technology for e-mail and Internet access. It supports Bluetooth technology, FM radio, MP3 ringtones with 500-entry phonebook. It has an integrated handsfree speaker function with long battery life. The cost of the Nokia 2660 is 85 EUR and it would be available in the second quarter of 2007. Rcomm offers colored mobile phones for Rs 777

India’s second largest private telephony major Reliance Communications (Rcomm) has made the cheapest phone for Indians. Rcomm has launched the SIM based Classic 202 at Rs 77 (US$19), which is almost half of the existing colour handset prices of Rs 1,600. The company has launched ‘Classic 202′ along with ‘Classic 204′ and `Classic 203′, which are available at Rs 844 and Rs 888, respectively. The ‘Classic 202′ is featured with FM radio, ployphonic ringtones and address book. Rcomm has launched new SIM based CDMA handsets, which allows users to change to other providers, if they are not satisfied with the Reliance Communications’ services. Currently, the entry level black and white handsets are available at around Rs 1000 and color handsets at Rs 1400-1800 from Tata Indicom, the other significant CDMA mobile service provider. According to Reliance Communications President (wireless) S P Shukla, Rcomm is bringing mobile phones for an entirely new segment of population in metroes, small cities and rural hinterland of India. Yahoo! launches OneSearch, mobile search portal in India
World’s second largest Search Engine and Internet service provider, Yahoo! has launched its One Search Beta service in Indian market. Yahoo! One Search is available on its exclusive web portal, in.m.yahoo.com. Yahoo! has launched this service in other six Asian countries, including Malaysia and Singapore. One Search is basically a keyword search on the mobile web. Users can access Yahoo!OneSearch on their mobile browser through GPRS connection. Initially the service is available on GSM mobile phones not on CDMA mobile phones. Even users can access content on news. Finance, weather, images and Flickr on their OneSearch portal. Yahoo! has tied up with several content providers to offer better search results using its own search technology. The company will also open up the portal to advertisers in the form of sponsored links and display advertising. These ads will allow users to interact other sites or by connecting them through a call. Yahoo! has included its global clients like Pepsi for advertisement. Yahoo! has already open its OneSerach portal for mobile publishers in US. Yahoo! has already launched Yahoo! Go mobile service in India, which allows users to access services like Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Messenger on their mobile phones.
