NEC Unified Solutions has partnered with FirstHand Technologies for the convergence of mobile phones and PBX technology. Fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) provider, FirstHand Technologies has joined NEC solutions to deliver the mobile unified communications. According to the partnership, the FirstHand Enterprise Mobility Solution would be fully integrated with the NEC UNIVERGE portfolio. The solution will extend UNIVERGE enterprise functionality to smart phones and dual mode devices, including BlackBerry RIMs, Nokia E-series devices and Windows Mobile devices woth cellular and Wi-Fi networks. It means that corporate users would be equipped with these mobile devices with all the features of the company PBX. The solution will enable NEC customers to perform corporate directory look up, enterprise dialing, presence, instant messaging, outlook contact integration, ad-hoc mobile conferencing and visual voicemail from their mobile phones. The FirstHand Enterprise Mobility Solution includes the FirstHand Mobility Gateway that integrates with VoIP infrastructure with voice mail and conferencing and security extends to mobile devices. This solution will give single phone number to enterprise people to use the screening details of the PBX coupled with the ‘find me’ feature delivered through the FirstHand Enterprise Mobility Gateway calls, which can be automatically forwarded from the desktop phone to additional numbers, including mobile phone numbers. Users can easily access the corporate directory and dial anyone with a single click of button by using FirstHand Mobile Assistant. Users can also initiate conference calls and send instant messages in real time.
