ASUS J501: A large display Skype phone

Posted on: April 12th, 2012 by admin

I happened to come across ASUS’s J501 Skype phone. The distinguishing feature of J501 is that it has a large display screen powered by a 2M pixel camera promising high quality images. ASUS J501 is rightly called large display mobile phone supporting resolutions up to 240×320. Perhaps, other VoIP phones lack this feature. Due to large display screen, the latest ASUS phone provides a scope for scrolling the image. Coming to its VoIP features, ASUS provides Skype services without PC. The users just require Bluetooth technology to make VoIP calls (both Skype-in and out) and instant messaging. The ASUS J501 possesses memory power of 5MB with MicroSD card extension. It also includes two-step auto focus camera shutter that can provide video recording and horizontal photos. In addition to these, the ASUS carries certain cool features including different types of games, MP3, FM radio and high quality videos. It looks black in color and weights hundred grams. At present, it is available only in Taiwan for $300.
