The US-based mobile technology arm of Telit Communications PLC, Telit Wireless Solutions has launched the GE863-PRO3 wireless communication module equipped with two powerful microprocessors. The GE863-PRO3 GSM/GPRS module is equipped with an integrated ARM9 processor, which provides full control of CPU and the GPRS based band processor handles time-critical communication tasks. The new module has an integrated firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) solution, which allows integrators and developers to ensure that the firmware of the product can be upgraded with the latest enhancements. The powerful ATMEL ARM9 processor provides control on real time applications, which requires more than 200 MIPS. Developers can programme the module in both Python and C++ programming languages. The module is featured with integrated memory as well as an independent energy management for both CPUs to eliminate the need of additional external memory in the application design. The GE863-PRO3 is best application for compact form with its external dimensions of just 41 x 31 x 3,6 mm. This quad band module is suited for variety of high processing power applications, including point-of-sale terminals, fleet management systems and multimode automated meter reading (AMR) applications.
