Alcatel-Lucent announced that Vodafone Netherlands has deployed a network-based Alcatel-Lucent enterprise solution, which will enable Vodafone Netherlands to expand the features of its Wireless Office service. The company has offered network integration services, including design and engineering support, while the enterprise solution is being offered to Vodafone. Vodafone’s new Wireless Office service is basically a network-based IP Centrex solution, which will allow business customers to use mobile phones to access communications features through fixed telephones lines in a company’s offices. Additionally, the solution will also include receptionist switchboard and handle calls to a company’s prime number, geographical numbers (fixed numbers), company numbers (088) and Call Management Software for easy call management by end users. Vodafone has introduced its Wireless Office service, which will not only provide the functionality of fixed communications but also the flexibility of mobile communications.


 
 
 

Vodafone offers MySpace on mobile phones

Now MySpace users can access their profile on their mobile phones also. Vodafone, Europe’s biggest mobile operator, has signed a deal with social networking site, MySpace to launch Internet services in European Market. Vodafone has signed a deal with MySpace to allow their customers to access their MySpace pages from their mobile phones. The company has launched this service to boost mobile usage in European market. This partnership will allow Vodafone users to access MySpace mobile and enable them to edit their MySpace profiles, find, add friends, post photos and blogs and send and receive MySpace messages on their mobile phones. The company is planning to launch this service in the UK in the first half of 2007. Users can immediately pre-load MySpace mobile software on their mobile handsets. Vodafone offers YouTube videos on mobile phones

After launching MySpace and eBay service on their mobile handsets, Vodafone is planning to offer YouTube videos on their mobile handsets. Recently, Vodafone has signed an agreement with YouTube to offer YouTube videos on mobile handsets. This service will allow mobile phone users to access a version of the YouTube service directly from the Vodafone live mobile Internet portal. Initially, this service would be launched in Europe. Under this service, YouTube will provide new videos and allow customers to forward the link of their favorite videos to their friends and family. Even users can upload their own content from their mobile phones and search across multiple categories. According to Steve Chen, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer for YouTube, this partnership will allow YouTube customers to share their content on mobile phones also.


 
 
 

After launching YouTube videos, Vodafone is planning to provide Google Maps on its mobile phones. British Telecom Company, Vodafone Group PLC is collaborating with Google Inc. to develop maps for mobile phones. The biggest mobile phone network operator in the world, Vodafone has partnered with Search Engine giant, Google to provide easy to-use maps, local listing and search navigation capabilities on its mobile phones. According to Frank Rovekamp, global chief marketing officer of Vodafone, the Google map service will allow customers to search their exact location, while on the move. Recently, Vodafone has signed a deal with European company, MySpace to access MySpace pages on mobile phones. The company has also signed an agreement with US bank, Citi Group to enable their customers to use international money transfer services through their mobile phones.


 
 
 

Verizons launches mobile television service in US

Now Verizon subscribers in US can watch television on their mobile phones. The second largest US mobile phone provider, Verizon Wireless announced that the company has launched the first commercial mobile television service in 20 states of US with full-length programmes and high quality picture. The joint venture of Verizon Communications Inc. and Vodafone Group Plc. will provide the television service on mobile phones, while Qualcomm Inc. unit MediaFlo has developed the service, which includes eight channels broadcasting full-length TV shows to mobile phones on 24 hours a day. The picture of the mobile TV would be better than Verizon Wireless’s existing Vcast video service. The company will charge $15 a month for the service. Firstly, the mobile video services launched in 2004 in US with 7 million customers, which is increased upto 232 million customers. According to Ovum analyst Roger Entner, it is expected that MediaFlo users could increase to 20 million to 30 million people within about seven years.
